Kid’s Day at Kinnick Stadium was a success for not only the community but also for the players and the coaches. As kids and their families watched from the sidelines and snared autographs, Hawkeye head coach Kirk Ferentz and his football squad got some work in. “Live action” were words that Ferentz used frequently when talking with the media. It was important that the players got on the field, especially the young ones who haven’t had that much experience. In just under three weeks, at 11 a.m. Sept. 5, the Hawks will line up on the Kinnick turf against Illinois State, their first game of the season.
