With the 49th pick in the second round of the NBA draft, the Washington Wizards selected Iowa forward Aaron White.
After Devyn Marble’s selection last year, this marks the first time since 1998-99 that Hawkeyes have been selected in consecutive drafts.
White will join the likes of John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Paul Peirce in our nation’s capital. Washington lost in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs to the Atlanta Hawks last month.
Ohio native White averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Hawkeyes in 2014-15 and led the team to its second-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. He also helped the Hawks to their first tournament win since 2001 with an 82-52 victory over Davidson.
White earned first-team all-Big Ten honors in 2015 and finished second in program history in scoring, third in rebounds, and first in games played.
