Halftime report: Gonzaga 46, Iowa 29

So this is what the nation’s most efficient offense looks like?

Everyone knew the Bulldogs were one of the best offensive teams in the nation. No one expected them to put on the offensive clinic they have against the Hawkeyes in the first half.

Gonzaga shot 62 percent from the field, 70 percent from 3-point range. As a result, it holds a 46-29 lead over Iowa at halftime.

Since the tip, Iowa has played catch-up. It has yet to lead at any point in the first half, and every run it goes on, Gonzaga responds with a bigger run of its own.

Offensively, the Hawkeyes are producing. They’re shooting 45 percent from the floor; however, they’ve only gone to the line three times this half.

The one true struggle for Iowa’s offense has been turnovers. The Hawkeyes have turned the ball over seven times, which has led to 17 Gonzaga points.

The Zags have also limited forward Aaron White. He finished the half 6 points (3-of-7 from the floor) and 0 rebounds.

Leading all scorers is Kyle Wiltjer, who finished the half with 13 points and has yet to miss a shot. Excluding the final possession of the half, he didn’t play for the last six minutes of the half.
