With two National Letters of Intent signed by Kristin Glesne and Monika Poomcharoen, the Iowa women’s golf team has added two new names to its roster for the 2015-’16 season.
Glesne, a native of San Antonio, Texas and attends Ronald Reagan High School, is a three-time state medalist and has led her team to two first place conference finishes. She was also named Texas Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year in 2013-’14 and currently leads the Player of the Year standings for the Greater San Antonio Junior Tour.
Coming from Temecula, California is Poomcharoen, who attends Great Oak High School. She has won two Southwestern League titles, two league MVP honors, and four team MVP honors in her four years. She is a two-time captain for her high school team and holds school ecords for season scoring average, lowest nine-hole round (32), and lowest 18-hole round (66).
Head coach Megan Menzel announced the two new Hawkeyes Friday, and said she is thrilled to add Glesne and Poomcharoen to the team.
“This is a great recruiting class for us,” Menzel said in a release. “Monika and Kristin are great additions to an already very solid team. They will fit in well with the players that we have here, and I see them making a strong impact on our lineup next year.”
