The Iowa women competed in South Bend, Indiana Friday against 26 other teams in the Gold division, running in the 5,000-meter race. Iowa finished seventh overall with a team score of 211. Sophomore Carolyn Newhouse was the Hawkeyes’ top finisher today with a time of 17:39.9, coming in 35th place. Spanish standout Marta Bote-Gonzalez came in with a time of 17:43 and a 43rd place finish followed by sophomore Tess Wilberding finishing 45th with a time of 17:44.3.
Other times include sophomore Katie Adams (17:47.3/48), junior Jocelyn Todd (17:47.8/49), junior Courtney Martin (17:52.2/56), junior Lisa Gordon (17:54.8/58), and sophomore Sammie Zishka (17:58.2/64).
The Hawkeyes will compete in the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 18. This will be their last race the Big Ten Championship in Iowa City on Nov. 2.
